Red Rock Grill and Bar
As their website states, Red Rock Grille and Bar is a “‘Rustic Chic’ eatery serving delicious inspired comfort food.” The decor is farm-like, rustic and simple with unquestionable care taken to make it very clean.
We arrived mid day on a Wednesday and were seated right away. We ordered the Chicken Pot Pie Spring Rolls with Gravy, The Black Bean Burger and a Grilled Chicken and dried Cranberry Salad.
Appetizer
When our spring rolls arrived, the first thing I noticed was how greasy they were – and as you break into them they become more greasy. Despite being told that these were popular, I was having trouble fully grasping what was before me. Contrary to the thought of popularity equally excellent taste, these were essentially flavorless and the gravy appeared to be mixed with an Italian like dressing. Needless to say, this was not a hit.
Main Course
Moving on to the Black Bean Burger with Fresh Tomato, Baby Spinach, Cucumbers, Feta Cheese, Tzatziki Sauce. I’m not sure if they were made in-house but tasted processed and again flavorless. The confusing toppings only masked what was never going to be a tasty black bean burger.
Last but not least, The Salad was fresh, as was the grilled chicken on top and the flavors worked well together. Overall, however, this would not be a place I would return.
In reading (and tasting) the menu I can see the effort but I just wish it tasted different. It’s almost like they’re trying too hard to make good food. I would like to revisit this place again because for some reason I want to believe they will be better. Time will tell.
