JP’s Restaurant and Pub

Upon entering JP’s, it’s dark with no windows, some decent sports memorabilia with a long bar, booths and several tables in between.  It’s not the best atmosphere I’ve seen, but somehow the crowd of happy people made it seem warmer.  I was greeted and given a bowl of hot, fresh popcorn and ordered a Michelob Ultra.  (The beer and wine selection are minimal at best). 

While it’s not fancy- in any way, it is exceptionally clean and would lend itself to parties of 4 at a booth comfortably.  It says they are “kid friendly” but I see mostly regulars, with an average age of patrons in their late 60’s. 

“Tasty Treats”

The food was delivered in a timely fashion and the portions were much bigger than the price tag. The boneless buffalo wings were not too spicy and made from hand cut chicken, breaded to order and simply delicious. 

Main Course

The baked haddock was seasoned with a heavier hand of bread crumbs than necessary, but the fish was fresh and cooked perfectly- as was the baked potato and broccoli au gratin. 

Additionally, the “au gratin” on the broccoli was canned, but worked well enough to eat- but not well enough to take any home.

On to the lobster roll…

Stuffed with visible claw & tail meat mixed with lesser lobster “parts” and tossed in mayonaise & celery- seasoned perfectly.  It was served on a plain old buttered & grilled hot dog roll- and that suited it just fine. 

Lastly, the fries were pub fries – nothing special but salted correctly, hot and complemented the roll well. 

Truly, this is a place that exceeded my expectations with its food and the prices were well under the value. 

Not only would I recommend it for it’s food and service, I will return – hungry to try more.
